I'd say a nudi too but without a good pic can't tell.

If it's a Nudi where there is one there are more, LOTS MORE! time to start hunting at nite with tweezers and maybe looking for some natural predators to keep them in check.

For the future, never flush anything down the toilet. Kill it ( if its algae freeze it for a while ) and then flush it as many things will survive and end up in local water supplies causing problems.

Um, a saltwater nudi from the Indo is going to have a hard time surviving the tristate areas sewer system in winter... but with freshwater stuff, I agree

You're right for most circumstances but depending on where you live, you're water may drain directly into coastal waters. Cheato is illegal in many places precisely because of this. Either it was flushed, overflowed, etc. from someones tank or ballast from a ship and it has overgrown many coastal areas crowding out native species. The problem is worse because it is toxic to many species that control the native algae such as urchins. Even if you dont live near the coast, your water table might be brackish depending on tides, etc. and some species could survive that. Youre probably right that this nudibranch didnt survive but its bad practice anyhows.

I know of nowhere that Chaeto is illegal. You are referring to Caulerpa taxifolia which is something else entirely.
