Leaky connections on my RO

I'm trying to figure out how to solve this problem so I can get on with setting up my tank. Its the one thing holding me back at this point. The RO unit is very leaky at the quick connects. So much that there is not enough pressure to actually operate the unit. So far the manuafacturer's advice hasnt helped so I figured I'll see if someone here has good advice before I give up and return it.

Run a direct line from the water source until you can get your tank going. Then try to fix the connection problem. You can get the tubing at HP/Lowes.

The quick connect worked well for me. You may have little scratches on the end of the hose that is causing the leak. try to trim an inch off the end and try again. You also have to push the hose all the way inside the quick connect and then pull out just a little bit.

Frequently, quick connect give you a false sense of connection because they feel a little tight somewhere before it's fully inserted.

How will that help? I was advised by other members against using tap water even for curing/cycling.

IF all fails use a T connection that between the RO and the Source of the water IE your cold water pipe. Make sure the T connection has a valve that can close. That way once your done making water close off the water going to the RO system. That will solve any problems where the Unit just drips water all night. You cant easily get the connections at home depot or lowes. Hope it helps.

I use a faucet adapter so a ball valve isnt necessary.

Yili- thanks for the tip. I did and fixed that problem. Now I just have to seal the connections with silicone and figure otu how to stop the leak in the faucet adaptor but at least I'm finally making RO now. Hopefully will have enough by the end of the day to fill up and start aquascaping.

did you put the rubber washer on the faucet adapter?

There was one rubber washer that goes between the adapter and the faucet. The adapter consists of two parts joined together to allow it to swivel. Its the swivel which is leaking.

Mine has that too, but the washer keeps that part from leaking, i just tightened it a little more.
