Ozone,yes or no

I was thinking of adding an ozone generator to my 125 FO but hear mixed reviews,how many members are using it and what are your reviews,I would purchase the red sea with the controller and probe just to try and keep things easy,does the ozone break down your skimmer and silicone in the tank? Is it a worthwhile addition for $500?

Fishman keep in mind that you have to replace all of your plumbing with ozone resistant plumbing, Ive been told to no matter what make sure you get the one rated for your system. and get a controller for it.

You have to run carbon at the output of the ozone, or you can build up a lot of toxic compunds.
Also you have to ask yourself before you buy some shiny new toy, what are you trying to accomplish with this?

I have been using ozone continousely in my reef for over 30 years. My tank has never leaked and I never destroyed anything in my skimmer. Ozone resistant tubing is needed though for the intake line. I also do not run carbon but instead run the outflow of the skimmer through an algae trough but this is relitively new. I will always run ozone.

I just heard it was a good,but expensive, addition especially for a FO tank,I will still continue to do bi-monthly water changes but most articles I've read say it helps eliminate dissolved organics and bacteria and helps reduce nitrates as well,I've found most people I talk to are pretty divided for and against it,I was curious as to the members that are actually using it or tried it and what their experiences with it were.

Ozone is extremely corrosive. You will need to exercise due caution if you use it. Hooked up improperly it can corrode your the electrical wires and outlets nearby.

Yes, people have success with no issues. Those are the ones that have properly hooked up ozone generators. Just be careful.

Should I feed it through my ASM skimmer or set-up a separate chamber or reactor for it? Does anyone have an ASM skimmer they are using with it? I can't really figure out how to add carbon to the effluent on these skimmers.
