Heater Help

I have gone through three heaters in the past year and a half. One of the heater failures resulted in a tank crash. Tonight my finnex went haywire. Can someone PLEASE recommend a good heater for my 30 gallon. You wouldn't think such a basic peice of equipment would be such an issue.

I recommend Ebo Jager heaters - the golden standard. I would also get it from bigalsonline.com. It is much cheaper than marinedepot.com ($18 vs $30).

Get the 250W. I have been using Jager heaters for years and own five or six.

I would pick up two as well since you will have to pay for shipping anyone. One as a backup.

A 250w heater in a 30g tank could be a recipe for disaster. No heater is GUARANTEED to not fail. If the Ebo fails in the on position at 250w's you'll cook your inhabitants.

Depending on the ambient room temperature, you should be fine with two 100w heaters. Set one a degree higher than the other one. The odds are against both heaters failing at the same time. Or just hook one up to a Ranco.

I have yet to find a heater I like, and i probably have tried almost every brand out there. Ebo Jager is a good choice, but as masterswimmer said...use two smaller heaters so when it fails (and i would put money on it, that it eventually will) you will have smaller problems than if one large heater failed.

Point well taken. I realize 250 is a bit much, but I figure you will still be able to use it should you upgrade to a bigger tank. Two 100w sounds like a good bet.
