Eheim pumps.

:grumpy: I have bought about four eheim 1250 pumps. On three of the four I have now broken the ceramic center shaft of the pumps impeller!

Does anybody know where to get replacements shafts?

Hi Shaun, i've broken my reactors ceramic shaft TWICE, I ended up buying 4 extra 1048 impellers from here (link for 1250) incase you cant find a place to purchase the ceramic shafts:

They're very quick on getting the order! I tried a search for "Eheim Shaft & Bushes 1250 " only places that came up were shops in the UK... sorry if I didnt totally help :happysad:

Don't need the whole impeller, just the small shaft.

It's the 1048 pump Russ.
I'd take 2 if you can get em as I'm sure I'll break it again some time in the future.

Nate, no problem. Just checked and the 1048 is available as an axle and bushings. I'll put two on the order for next weeks delivery.

What`s the deal with the shaft`s breaking? Everyone talks about the low wattage on these pumps but I have never had to replace a shaft on any mag pump`s lately......

the center shaft on the impeller is ceramic on an eheim. You can break them pretty easily if you're not careful.

On a mag pump the center post is steel. so if you're doing somthing to break it, you're definately doing something wrong. . .

i broke mine while trying to clean it. when taking out the impeller, make sure not to pull at an angle or else.....

Don:

the center shaft on the impeller is ceramic on an eheim. You can break them pretty easily if you're not careful.

While disassembling the pump for maintenance, you have to be careful when putting it back together.
Easy to snap.
I just did it with the pump on my BM160:headache:

They are very good pumps. I'd have said excellent pumps if the shaft wasn't so fragile. As long as you're aware of this, you can exercise due caution when doing maintenance.

They are reliable and energy efficient.
