Drilling an established tank

Is it possible to drill a tank already being used?
Ihave my 3 month old 75 gallon and after alot of debatse(A little late I know) I think it would be better drilled

I really dont want to buy a new tank Imean I would but how the heck would I do that moving sand no good.

so I am thinking of drilling it now but I hear NO and I hear YES

any one have a suggestion?

It's tough but not impossible. I would rather not though.

Do a search on MR and you'll find someone that drill a tank that was running, they also include a video of it, I think.

Well I know you can but How If I go out and buy another 75 gallon drilled tank how would I get all the stuff into it .
I am pretty sure about the fish and rocks just a quick one tank to the other drain some water into the other one BUt moving the sand is a problem?

You can do it......3 month old tank wont have too much crap in the sand yet....get a few rubbermaid bins.....seperate your LR and livestocks into the bins....add a powerhead and heater in there.....
drain the water into buckets.....and you can also have some mixed saltwater ready.....swap the tanks........plus the sand......plan and have all your plumbing ready for the new tank.......then plumb your tank to the sump....and then add your LR and fill the tank with the old water about 3/4 full......put some powerheads in there and let everything settle and clear up while you double check evrything....add your livestock back inot the tank at the end...after evrything is running.

you can even put a few pieces of LR with the livestock with the powerhead and heater...they will be fine in the tub all day....
start early....but most important....plan ahead before you get started....good luck.

Don't think bad of the idea you just need an experienced person for the job... I have done several... I think it takes 75% skill and 25% nerve... It's really not that hard..

I drilled my tank that was already up and running. It was a biocube so it was a little easier to do, but if you know what you are doing it can be done.

I think I will wait I don't think a hob is that bad and you guys are right until I can upgrade why go through all the headache .

I guess I am going to go back to the hob soon not right now still hunting on the right Refugium/sump
