Need advice: 75 or 90 gallon question

Need some advise. I live on the 3rd floor of a private house I currently have 65 gallon with a custom 15 gallon refugium under the tank. The floor is fine with this weight no problems.

I want to upgrade to a 75 or 90 gallon keeping the refugium. Has anybody else have a tank bigger than 65 gallon on a higher floor other than ground level without weight issues of floor giving way.

Tim you're fine with a 90gal. People have 120gal, 180gal and larger on floors other than ground level. Unless your apartment is about to be condemned, you'll be fine.

FYI I had a 120gal and 60 gal sump on the 5th floor with no disaster

I had a 180 on a second floor as well. Never had a problem. A 90gal tank is a very nice size. Deep enough to do some nice aquascaping and long enough to make a nice statement but norrow enough to fit in tight spaces.

I had a 75 gallon, while my buddy had the 90. The dimensions on the 90 work so much better for a reef tank.

The tank should actually be run perpendicular to the floor joists. Not parallel to them.
