I have a purple nudi for about 3 days now... I've read up on them and for the most part it seem's like they are not good for tanks with too many powerheads.. Or tanks that don't have a well established purple or yellow sponge tank...
If there is any other things to add to this list please feel free to let me know...

It would help to know which one you have. Most of them have specific diet and eat things like sponges, anemones and zoa's. These things are usually very hard to supply to keep one alive for sometime. Most just disappear in the tank and die from starvation. The people that have been able to keep them usually have sponges in the tank and the seem to survive on them, though they usually live in the rocks and you never see them until you move a rock.

Do they choose to diet from starvation or is this something that happens when the other fish talk about their weight.lol

Purple nudi I believe...

Well when they're dieting the other fish tell them about how good they look, which makes them diet more. This eventually leads to them dying. I think the Clown fish are usually the ones that tell them to keep doing it. I guess they're trying to protect their anemone. ;)

I've tried nudibranchs for a while. My former LFS told me how easy they were to keep. Said they were filter feeders and gave me that freeze dried phyto. And guess what? Yup, they all died and/or disappeared. I then did alot of research afterwards(which I should of done from jump) and saw that they should be left in the wild and they are trying to tell people not to buy them from LFS's so they will stop selling them.

Yeah its one of those animals people shouldn't be collecting and selling. We know nothing really about dietary needs of most of the nudi's out there or enough success in keeping them for more than a month without them dissapearing except for rare cases.
