well it seems my RO membrane is plugged up, it's perfect timing.
I was going to dose the tank today with interceptor, but I won't have the water ready for the large water change, so if anyone has an extra RO membrane of at least 50gpd that i could buy from you please pm or email me.

thanks,

Jonathan

thanks, guys.
I might have to have one overnighted, I'm going to need to make a bunch of water,
like 50 gallons to start.

if you can get yourself to brooklyn with 6 buckets, i can probably fill you up with the ~30gal of RO/DI water i have in my reservoir.

just keep your red-bug-infested fingers out of my tank! :shocked1:

Proper troubleshooting of an RO system ensures quick and cost-effective service. Logical evaluation of performance data, operating conditions and customer observations usually indicates problem areas.
The RO membrane is probably the most reliable component of an RO system, yet the most common component blamed for system failure. Typical membrane life, when properly applied and maintained, is usually 18 to 36 months at worst.
Most modes of premature failure are due to misapplication or malfunctioning support component.
Misapplication may be excessive feedwater TDS (limited by feedwater pressure, not the membrane), excessive chlorine (primarily thin-film membrane), inadequate feedwater pressure and insufficient brine/cross flow.
Clogged flow restrictors reduce brine flow causing saturation and salting up.
Faulty product water check valves can allow back pressure that may damage the membrane. Pretreatment for iron, excessive hardness and turbidity are a must

i dont treat my feed water, it comes straight from the faucet.
maybe we need a new thread on RO/DI maintenance. i'll start it...

thanks everyone I was able to borrow an old school spectra pure model from gegema, george, who's up in the flower district very close to me.

I've got another membrane coming and I'm going to order a booster pump since I believe the low pressure led to the membrane failing in such a short amount of time.

would low pressure cause the membrane to fail? i dont have a booster pump, i just use whatever pressure comes out of the faucet.but we can discuss this on my new RO/DI thread.

Jon, I guess you found out you got redbugs, huh.. So you know where it came from? I guess you following my lead too..lol. I hope you kill all those bugs.. Just when you think you finally have everything setup and running, you find out you got some pest in your tank.. HATE that feeling...
