MR discount in LFS Long Island

Pets of New Hyde Park has one of the best prices around. Aquarium Network Design as well (MR's get 10%) and, yes, Fishtown. I know, I know, but they do. I haven't done business with any MR vendors so I can't compare their prices but I imagine they are low as well.

just spoke to a friend that visited FishTown recently, the prices has gone up & the same people that worked @ (now debunked) MegaPets here in Long Island is running the show.

how is this project coming along? i went there last weekend and he gave me 20% off my fishes, but ofcourse i talked to him for about 15mins. He said only if we had a way of showing that we are from MR he got no problems with the discount. I asked him about the 90gal tech tank & stand posted price 1250 and he is willing to give 10% off that.

I heard some disturbing news, last nite I was at Pets Warehouse one of the guys mentioned they applied for a paid vendor forum here at MR, however their application was declined.:duh:

So they're not sure if they will continue the 20% discount program for MR members.

They were saying if MR don't want to support them, why should they support MR. He said they haven't finalized the issue yet.

If you think about it who ever controls this forum is doing a disserve to us members if we may be penalized paying more.

Is this the same Pets Warehouse which sued a freshwater plant board because a couple of members posted comments that plants they received weren't in the best of condition?

As for MR doing a disservice to it's members, well looking at all the sponsors we have on this board that would be the furest from the true. Then again MR isn't about getting people discounts, it's about supplying info and help to fellow reefers.

I would prefer to pay full price and get quality merchandise and livestock. I mean really a discount is nice but to take food off of a LFS owners table is not a nice thing to do as far as I am concerned.

Ireef Not offended here My main goal is to keep people in the biz, in the biz if you know what I mean. My friend tries to give me a break at his LFS sometimes because I have been a customer for a long time and I make him charge me full price for stuff. Maybe it's because of where I come from and what I do for a living but when I want discounts for stuff I go to MR cause here we pay it forward. LFS's need to pay rent and electricity etc.

Ifeefny the post doesn't offend me, and I'm sure it doesn't offer anyone else on the board, but a lot of time there are reasons behind why certain things are the way there are.

Now it mayn't be the case here, Petwarehouse, but here at MR we are alway looking to make relationship with LFS. It help everyone in the long run, especially since here in the NY area we really are limited in LFS.

I just called PW, here what I was asked to post.

Pets Warehouse is blocked from posting here, so they can't defend them selfs to these allegations.

I am in no way connected with the store I live 10 minutes away and I like the store and the people there that I have a good relationship with.

Dive deeper, I have searched for pets warehouse and found no "BAD" threads about them. Not too sure about what all this cia/fbi/banned stuff is about. I don't think victim hats are being put on anyone.

Then why don't you folks work something out, both the parties should resolve this amicably.

Civility aside, and notwithstanding misstatement of the facts, blocking or precluding a vendor is unwarranted and is counterproductive in any situation where you are attempting to resolve a matter.

divedeeper the whole case is out on the internet for everyone to see, including all the counter suits. Nobody needs to defend themselves or say that nobody knows the whole story.

As for Petwarehouse, well anyone can go to the store if they want to, nobody here is stopping anyone or telling them it's a bad store.
