Good or Bad in fuge?

Just curious because anything with a bubble on it makes me nervous.

good n bad. they grow fast so good for nutrient export but can go asexual so keep the lights on 24 7.

meh not worth the risk IMO. I aquired a small portion, but will eat it with tomorrows salad.

people have told me they absorb calcium too...not for sure though..and yea they start to turn clear if not enough light....i took the whole bunch and stir fried it with ginger and garlic....called it seasonal spinach.:tongue1:

if u need caulerpa in your fuge to lower nutrients then somethings wrong running 24 hour lighting is a waste of electricity keep your fuge with a deep sand bed or mud i use mud and live rock no lights.that alone will keep nutrients low add also will grow large populations of copods ect.

Well I was keeping Chaeto in my aquafuge but it was too dense and did not allow proper flow. It also was collecting all this junk that seemed to have a negative effect on my levels, so i got rid of it. I replaced it with a few small pieces of caleurpa (not the grape) and have a 4-5" sandbed. I run the lights on the same light cycle as my display, and now all seems to be getting back to normal.

so will keeping lights on 24/7 prevent this algae from getting asexual?
