Just looking at the sump of my tank and seeing no possible way to fit a fuge in there and its a corner tank in the corner so a hang on is not a possibility, and I know alot of people dont believe in fuges but I would perfer to have one.

I have been very succesful in the past with a phos reactor, rodi, weekly WC and a FUGE to keep my parameters near perfect. Id really like to add one.

Heres the thought:

Using a large reactor as a fuge, with chaeto inside it. Would lighting penetrate plastic outside and would this overall be effective?

drill 2 holes one in one out about 1 to 2 ins below the top.fill it with mud or sand and add a few small pieces of rock.i run my fuge with no light.the pods will thrive and u create plankton witch will feed your main display

How big is your tank?? In my opinion if your fuge isn't close to the same size as your tank it really doesn't do that much on a level that you can read levels from... Hopefully it's only a 30 gallon tank max.. I have come to this conclusion by taking all the macro out of my sump/fuge and testing the levels a month later..

bob my tank is 54corner (14 gallon sump). In the past I have put hang on fuges on tanks, and the fuges were small fractions of the total water amount and along with other husbandry methods they completely eliminated nitrates aswell added an abundance of pods. I am a believer in this and believe as long as nitrates arent too high a small fuge could help reduce/eliminate nitrates.

Yes as long as you keep up the good husbandry, You'll be fine... But my aim was to create a tank that was close to self sustaining... And I do believe I'm getting close because I haven't fed my fish in 30 days now..

WHY..lol

Bob1000, for the first time, I am very close to agreeing with you :)

Glad to see your coming around..lol
Soon you will be assimilated too..lmao

On a more serious note it's hard to agree with anything I say about my tank husbandry unless you have seen my tank personally.. I try to grow what my tank needs not what most people think is aesthetically pleasing..Hence not feeding my tank in 30 days and going...
PS I'm crazy too..:shhh:
