Do you quarantine inverts?

If not, why not? If you do, which do you quarantine? All, mollusks, arthropods, corals only, etc?

If you do quarantine corals, what do you for lighting ? Is it necessary to have a full scale lighting setup for the quarantine?

I only QT fish, for corals I just acclimate and dip/bath and go, everything else I just acclimate and in they go.

Any coral, at the bare minimum gets a dose of flatworm exit (had them once, planaria, about three years ago and vowed to NEVER get them again). I don't keep SPS, so I'm not concerned with those associated pests.

Other than the above, temperature acclimation and in they go (for corals).

For snails, crabs, shrimp, anemones, etc. I do temperature acclimate, then drip acclimate. I find that these inverts are much more sensitive than coral. Coral are a lot tougher than most people give them credit for.

For those that don't quarantine, are you not afraid of introducing pests and/or diseases? While the corals and inverts may not be harboring things that can transfer to your fish ( though I dont see why that can't happen ), what about infecting the rest of your corals, shrimp, etc?

For coral at least, interceptor and betadine will take care of your most immediate concerns.
For me Invert wise, if something happens, it happens. Not that many horrible diseases that will wipe out a whole tank for them. Also from the replies here, the chances of something like that happening here seems quite small.

Eric, I just put a few drops of FWE into the bag and agitate the water to 'circulate' the FWE. I leave it in there for about a minute. Then I put the coral into its new home. I do not add the FWE to my tank anymore. I only did that three years ago when I had to eradicate the dreaded planaria infestation.

This brings up a question I've been wondering.Do mobile inverts get any diseases?I have never seen a post saying"All my shrimp are getting weird marks and dying"or anything of the sort, those guys seem to only die by bad water,age and some other critter's snack time :eat:.

There isn't an organism that exists which cannot get a disease or a parasite. Even single cell organisms have been found to have parasites ( its the main theory as to how eukaryotic cells acquired organelles especailly mitochondria ). You might not have seen a post stating that someones shrimp or hermits or snails have a disease but thats because I doubt there are many hobbyists who care enough or know enough about them to realize it. There are plenty of posts about people's snails or hermits going missing or being eaten. I would bet that many of those were dead from some illness before they were eaten.
