Buying live sand

Anybody know the best place and way to buy live sand??

I don?t think any of the local stores have a pest free tank with good sand bed.

I'm told hunting down south down in Home Depot can be tough!

From what I've seen Southdown is hard to find. If you find some pick up their entire stock. J/k...hows the tank coming along buddy?

Its on Long Island, but Country Critters has great live sand, its $2.99 a lb however.

ESV sells sand almost like southdown, you can add a cup of sand from some other reefers tank this will help seed it.

The thing about Southdown is that...this is capitalism, isn't it? If there's demand, why is the supply so hard to come by?!

I've called the two HDs in Manhattan (23rd and 59th) and the "operators" had a tough time understanding what play sand was, immediately insisting they'd never have something like that there! Does anyone have a SKU number from an old bag somewhere?

The SKU will bring up "playsand" whether it's the right stuff or not. You're better off going to the one in queens or bkln and looking in the garden dept.

They stopped collecting the Caribbean sand. Sorry but It's not gonna be available for a long while.
ESV is gonna have a new sand out its calcium carbonate based and it's white like really white. I got and advanced bucket of it. It's really cool.

i have AragaMax Oolitic sand in my tank (.02-1.2)
