Well I finally bit the bullet and started the 220 reef. It was a fresh water tank I have kept for years, and was the last hold out containing my big imported goldies. So, the goldies including my favorite 10" black moor when to a excellent fish place that does high end goldfish.

And so the saga begins...tons of rock work to set, sand to move. I had been running a remote hang on refugium to get the pods going. that was moved, the live rock and of course, the sacrificial group of blue damsels LOL. It'll probably still cycle, but I don't know to what degree. Anyone know? the only thing that is not coming from established tanks is some sand?

I am trying to keep a very open set up. One large rock formation and lost of open area. Once the DSB is completely settled in I hope to do a nice size group of jaws. The reef will try and reproduce a FL keys reef with open space, sand and jaws, ricordea. We'll see how true I can keep to that plan LOL.

Any thoughts, suggestions?
The biggest thing is going to be light selection. Since it was fresh it is running a high end CF 72" set up. Overkill for the FW, but it looks awesome over the tank. Should I leave it for now and see how it goes? Since it will be mainly fish and some ricordea for now.

I am very excited...but, it is a huge jump up from the 120 I am running now.
The 120 will be an anemone and clown tank. My mother RBTA keeps splitting, so this will give the clones some room to stretch out, literally.

Ok biting bullets is neither healthy (lead poisoning) or dentally correct! :lol2:

Great job looking forward to seeing lots and lots of pics

Wow Beth, sounds like it's going to be great!
a 220 filled with rics..my dream tank :)

I'd leave the CF on it for now..new bulbs of course...you should be able to put them anywhere in the tank with that lighting. Maybe a single MH in the middle in the future if you need/want more 'action'?

Hey Beth,
Sorry I didn't call you back today. Please take note of the time I'm posting this. I DID NOT wake up early. This is still running from yesterday :banghead:

Swap prep has been a killer.

Give me a call Thursday sometime after noon and we can talk.
