How high should my baffles be?

Ok the sump is a standard AGA 20gallon Long tank. Its 12 inches high. The skimmer is all that is going ot be placed in there along with heaters and other little things. I just need a skimmer area and a return area. How high should baffles be in the sump? I was thinking 8inches...

I'd make the first one 8 and the second one seven, or even six inches. you won't get back flow then.

All the baffles should be the same size, The skimmer should be in the 1st chamber with the drain. The 1st baffle should be low on the bottom, the second should be 3/4" to a 1" off the bottom with 3/4" between, and the third same as the 1st.
The main thing it depends on some skimmers, i use a EuroReef i think it was 8" of water they needed to work best, so my baffles were 8" so in the 1st chamber the water level is always what the skimmer needs.
