I have a oceanic tank with 2 overflows. It is going into a aquaclear 300 wetdry. It seems the flow going down is a little fast becasue it is filling up the pad and pushing up. Is there a way to stop this from happening.
Thank you in advance

David, not knowing much about W/D filters, i use a sump with skimmer.
Could your return pump be too big?
What if you put a Tee and a ball valve on your return pump sending some water back into the Filter, and less into the tank. The Tee and ball valve IMO is the best way to throttle back a pump.

David, tough to say without a visual - Is the pad pushing up? if so, any way to lower the pad down a few notches? I found that without a good distance between the downdrains and the pad, it's hard to make it work. I put my drip pad 6" below the drains into the sump, but that results in some trickling noises.

Anyhow, is there a way to eliminate the pad and put a sponge somewhere in between baffles instead and use that for mechanical filtration?

Just a thought.

Thanks for all your help since the tank has been new and a lot of things have stirred the pad was so filthy that the water couldn't flow down. I need to buy a new one tomorrow but I cleaned it out and eveything is great.
