Hey I just got an aqua c remora for my 24g Aqua Pod and it is just breaking in. I am getting tons of Micro bubbles in the main display. Anyone here ever dealt with this before? Any mods I can make to help cut down the bubbles?

I wedged some filter floss between the skimmer and false back and it seems to be collecting the bubbles. I was just hoping for a more permanent solution. I obviously cant put that huge basket surface skimmer that aqua c makes in that small space.

What i had done with mine was place rubble rock on the right chamber + the remora on that side, on the left side packed it with chaeto + return pump

make sure the slides on the 24 are all down to act like an overflow

also what pump do you have as a return - I was using maxi900

Well, the way I have it setup is I took eggcrate and made a barrier on the right side where the water flows in. I made an eggcrate shelf that holds a small bag of Chemi Pure and Filter Floss. The res of that chamber is holding my heater. the left chamber I have the Skimmer hooked up and the return pump is a Maxi Jet 1200.

Have the aqua c on my 20g and it does produce bubbles pretty consistant but after enough time running it should subside but i agree you will always see some, as for the prefilter its pretty large so i would not recommend it especially in a smaller tank ....

Also just a suggestion take out the chemi pure and heater in the chamber, may cause you some issues down the road ...

What do you think might happen Chris? I have had heaters in the rear chamber with chemipure for over a year now. Never had a problem before. And I really dont want the heater in the display.

Ryan, I couldn't fit that prefilter box in my 20 either, and one day while I was at H2O I found this thing (I have to try, and find a pic of it). Any way it is small cylindrical with a tube that attaches to the pump. It works just like a prefilter box, and way smaller. If I can't find a pic of it, I will try and take a pic of mine tomorrow.;)

I would move the skimmer to the right side with the over flow and put the heater and chemi-pur in the chamber with the return pump. The bubbles have to travel farther and through more obstacles before getting to the return pump (which should be as low as possible in the tank as bubbles float) . Plus the water returning from the skimmer gets diffused with the incoming water from the over flow.

The only problem is that I made a mod to the back right chamber so that the skimmer wont fit on the right. I also have it so that the overflow forces that water thru the chemipure and filterfloss before it gets to the skimmer. This wont allow room for the MJ 1200 pump in the chamber. I put the filter floss on the return of the skimmer and there is no more bubbles in the display. I think that I will wedge a piece of Poly Pad in the gap and hopefully that will be a more permanant solution, while still being beneficial to my water quality.

Awi if you can find out what it was, please let me know.

just thought that maybe the heater would melt the plastics, but if you had in your tank for a year now than all is good, the chemi pure tho is hit or miss, i had bad results with it in my nano ....

I too was also thinking of the poly pad in the water return gap, but the flow is pretty heavy and the poly pad always gets pushed out ... its a good idea tho if you can make it stay, thats where the majority of the bubbles pour out from
