i been treating my tank for red bugs and decided to also treat for flatworms. i used salifert's flatworm exit and treated the whole tank but my corals are all stressed, i siphoned out as many as i can, performed a 20% water change and threw in fresh carbon. does anyone have any experience with treating there tank with salfert fe? my water is still a bit hazy, skimmer pulling out red crap and i'm preparing for another water change. any other suggestions?

I've used FWE successfully. You just have to have water changes ready.

The one thing that didn't like the treatment were my clams. everything else seemed to do okay. Like you said the corals stressed for a bit, but then they're fine.

I am so sorry to read this Frank!
Did you use more FWE than is suggested (though they do say you can add more...) or do you think it might have been the combination of the 2 products?
Maybe frag a piece off each of your colonies to try and save something?

Polypads, and change the carbon daily until it stops?
If there is anything I can do to help, please LMK.

I'll share my experience with FWE. I just used it today and luckily I don't think I have any casualties. One of my rics looks sick but that's about it. I dosed a bit more than recommended and I took one of my powerheads and gave everything a good sweep. I siphoned the crap that was being blown around and replaced it with water I prepared. After that I dosed again but this time I was running carbon so FWE is still running through my system at this moment. That is unless carbon can remove the FWE. In two days I will be repeating these steps except I might dose a bit more so no flatworms live to build immunity to FWE.

I was surprised though. One or two flatworms are still alive after an overdose of FWE but I manually removed them. The flatworms I have are microscopic so it's hard to tell if there are any more running around.

Whatever you do, try to blow off your rocks and sand and siphon as many dead flatworms as possible. They release toxins that affect your fish and corals. I doubt that FWE is the cause for the bleaching of your SPS because I have SPS that are fine from the treatment.

Our FWE experience thusfar.

Dosed three days ago and the only thing that seemed to be effected by the treatment was the coco worm and the fox coral, but that is where the flatworms were on the rockwork... so I attribute their stress to the few flatworms that died in that area. After I sucked the lil' f'ers out everything went back to normal.

Today will be dose two and then we will dose again in one week. We used the recommended dosage plus 50%. Plan on doing the same this time around and the next time around.

From what I've read the more flatworms the worse the effects on things in the tank. Lots of fresh carbon and water change though should lessen the stress.

Also, I find that cerith snails and bristle worms don't fair well with either FWE or toxins from FWs. My cerith snails seem really sluggish and I collected dead bristle worms (didn't know I had them also) as they were blown around.

All in all, I'm going to inspect everything I buy from now on. Like ink says "I got 100% of my pests here."
