Clown,

I have a 7g nano at work with the same lighting and have successfully kept, Montipora' and hydnophora's successfully - all have grown and had great color.

I thik the keu to those 96w powerquads is keeping the bulbs fresh and not letting them get worn out.

If I were doing a nano with halide, though, I would go with a 150 HQI pendant - Geissman are awesome but VERY expensive .

I recently bought a Bluewave III ballast and Reef Optix Pendant for $220 plus shipping from a fellow reefer. It included a new bulb and was double ended HQI bulb

I have a 175w bell pendant on my 10g Nano. While I don't have any SPS in the tank, I'm sure you'll be able to grow some nice specimens in yours. The pendant is also cheaper than a 150W HQI :)

Buy the light used, and put in a new bulb. You'll save quite a bit of money that way. I got a 150de PFO with Icecap Electronic ballast for $150.

If you're going with just a halide, and no actinics, go with a 14k bulb.
