does anyone think therewould be a market for an acrylic Q/T tank with a built in wet/dry run by a powerhead?

I was thinking of building one while I was at it build 2 and put one on ebay.

figuring a tank 16X16X16

maybe make it so it can hang on an existing tank
thoughts comments ideas?

that sounds like a good design for a frag, or grow out tank.
for a QT though you should not keep it any where near the display tank.
it's also better to have the filters easily removable in a QT.
either a sponge filter or a hang on filter to hold media or both.

I'm not looking to make a business out of making Q/T tanks. as Kid I worked for a guy who made acrylic showcases and furniture so I have some expierence with acrylic. I've made several tanks in the past and nummerous sumps and wet/ dry filters. I'm making a small tank as a Q/T for myself so it would be easy to make 2. I was talking to a LFS /supplier and he suggested making large tanks as there was void in NY/NJ area for acrylic tanks.

I really dont want to make this a business I enjoy it as a hobby.

anytime you combine a hobby with business it sucks the fun right out of it, that's my experience at least. if you make an extra tank I'm sure someone here will buy it eventually.

Agree with J. In the past I have mixed the two - Not a great combo. Its great while there is not too much demand but once you get hit with waiting lists and deadlines the fun does get sucked right out of it. For sure there will always be someone who wants to buy the QT. As for me I am running some designs for an acrillic sump. Since I know as much about acryllics as I would like to get to know Ms. Socks :shocked1: :shocked1: I will be looking for someone to build it for me. I might just PM you when the time comes. JUST BE WARNED - Im surrounded by a lot of beer.....
