mine comes on a half hour after my actinics go off. Halides then t5 then moon light. They stay on till my t5s go back on. I dont think this actually does anything beneficial or harmful

It will add a little photosynthesis to your tank during the night cycle, balancing the nightime ph drop. Prolly be not noticable with most moonlight LED's =( depends on the LED's.

People usually alternate their refugium lights with the day MH cycle to balance the PH swing, which is why it was suggested if he didnt tell you.

Ehemm...you're assuming quite a bit there buddy :)
She suggested it for purposes of his fish feeling less potential stress during the night as she understands that the added light from the blue moonlights helps the fish to see if any predators are lurking nearby..as the fish have no idea they are sleeping in your living room, bedroom..etc...;)

:bigeyes2: ..... meanie..... :irked:

Im allowed to assume because the original poster stated none of the above. =0)

I never heard about the lights to lower fish stress, people usually don't account for that. You learn something new every day =0)

I setup my lights like this: Day 10K -> dask and dawn Actinic -> night 2 LEDs (moonlight?). They are controlled by the timer in a way that the next set of lights turns on before the previous turns off. This way I think it is less stressful on fish as the change in lighting level is more gradual.
P.S. I have 1 Clown, 1 Damsel, a bunch of Turbo snails and three corals one of which is mushroom.
