I just switched out the carbon in my reactor for the above product. Is it normal for some dust to be released at first? Is it harmful to my tank? I took it offline until I get an answer. As for why the switch - until I put up a manifold on the pump I cant run more than one reactor ( which itself is off a maxijet ).

I used it without rinsing and had no negative effects, however after reading the warning which speaks of burning flesh and other crazy stuff, I would probably rinse in the future.

My thought would be KENT made this for aquariums and ideally dust should be rinsed, but if it was a complete poison to the tank, it would still leak in even after a rinse, so I think it should be fine

JUST my opinion
