After being in the hobby for 7 months, I lost my first fish today. I had a beautiful pygmy angel. Never bothered anyone and noone bothered her. She was always so happy just swimming around gracefully and grazing off the liverock. She seemed fine and healthy the last few days. She was even up and eating this morning. But when I got home from work, I didnt see her. Much to my surprise, I saw several crabs and my cleaner shrimp in a pile, and there under the pile was her half eaten body. :( I dont know what happened, I got her the same time I got my royal gramma, which was about 5 months ago. My other four fish seem fine. They've been eating, they look good, and dont seem to be breathing heavy or anything. Lets hope it was just a fluke incident. Either way, I'm gonna miss her. I may have to replace her to fill the void in my heart now (gay sappy moment) LOL.

Sorry to hear about your loss Mike..were any of the other fish ever seen picking on her or chasing her? Could have been anything.
It would be good to recheck all parameters, keep an eye on your other fish for potentials issues and wait at least a couple of weeks before you replace the fish just in case there is an issue that isn't apparent yet.

LOL I wish there was a punchline Reef... Maybe she ate too many cheezypoofs:bablefish

Kathy, I never noticed anyone pick on her. Never saw her get chased. She would just swim around all quietly, grazing off the rockwork. I rechecked my parameters, everything seems ok. And the other four fish in the tank seem fine, as do my corals. So maybe it was just her time, or a freak of nature... But you're right, I will wait a while before bringing another fish in, just to make sure. Thanks.
