well i have have in my tank right now 4-mj1200 with mods ,2Koralia #4 and 2-Koralia#3 and a tunze 6100

Im in the process of getting more mj with mods and another 6100. To replace the koralia's

And i would have to say that i would rather have the MJ or the tunze over the koralia.

with the way they are on the mag you can only position them so far to one side.

And for the price of a mj 1200 with mod and a magnet they are almost the same price as a #4 if not cheaper.

Never used the vortech so cant give any input on them.

JLAudio,

Issues #2 and #3 have been corrected and will be taken care of for free w/ an email to Roger at Tunze USA.

As for #1 I cannot comment on a comparison. I like the bigger tunzes better for any size tank :)

How do they fix #3? (prop spinning in the wrong direction)
I've done #2 when mine broke, but didn't realize there was something for #3. Do you have to send it in?

they sent me a new motor for free, i didnt have to send in anything. there is some kind of mechanism that is supposed to prevent the prop spinning the wrong way. They might not replace anything if you modded it. Mine is un-modded.

I like my Koralia nano's :sad2:

I use 2 Maxi Jet 1200's for my return pump and I also use to Koralia Nano's for dead spots/reserve power circulation.

I use 3 koralias all no.4 But I like the maxijet with the Mod. I will be changing all my pumps for the Vortech mp40.
For the money I would go with the Maxijet with the mod, you can get that for less than $40.
If money is not a big issue the vortech for about $400 a piece.

Or if you have a real good return pump use the wavy sea.

Just my opinion.

I now use vortechs on my tank, I won't say they are perfect, but they are better than the other choices.

I will never buy a tunze powerhead again. I went through too much crap with mine. They would calcify and seize up way to often, and yes I was cleaning them. I had to replace the impellers and they still did not last long, what a waste of money.

I think the maxi-jet mods are awesome for the money, they move a ton of water and give decent flow.

I've not used the Koralias myself, but I've seen them on friends tanks and thought they did a good job. they are kind of large though, I'd rather use a maxi-jet with mod.

Just to throw the a new one in the mix, Idk what model i got but I bought a seio pump for like 30 bucks and it does 1000 gph, If you have a big tank I recommend these.I love mine even though its kind of big. Also for some reason when mine loses power i have to expose it to air to get it running again, oh well, I still think 1000 gph for 30 bucks is great.

Seios are pretty bulky and also not as efficient as Tunze/Vortech/Koralia/MJmods.

Seio 1100gph at 22 watts...vs for example a Koralia 4 1200gph at 8.5 watts. Thats a big savings in NYC.

I have a wavy sea attached to a Maxi Jet Mod, because my return pump is not strong enough.

The maxi jet mod works great, but god, they are hideous and bulky.

Koralia's are good - but Koralia 3 & 4 are huge and ugly.
