help caulerpa problems!!

hi guys just a ? my nitrate was about 5ppm like 20 min ago . im having some trouble with caulerpa so i started to pull them out with my hands . is it true that they can release bitrate back into the water . when i checked my nitrate after pullin a few of it out of my tank my nitrate is now 15ppm. is that possible?:irked: oh and how do i know when it goes sexual????????

Just like cheato,they can release nitrates back into the water if they get too big so trimming it is the key.John Maloney(Vendor) says to keep it as a golf ball size then let it grow.That type of macro can go sexual.Try cheato instead.

i guess trimmin it is a bad thing. i need to get a tang , like last time when i started to show some algea the tang took care of it.

Then your options for tangs are limited, I would say an urchin or cucumber would be better.

im shootin to get a salfin tang which is the fish i always wanted .

Thats definately not an appropriate fish for a 55 gal unless you plan on upgrading to something double the size soon:fishhit:
