Hi All
I have these worms that make calcarious tubes.
they grow out in the open, not hidden.
They create a "net" of slime or something to catch food.
Not unlike a spider's web.
anyway,
they've become a nuisance. If i break the tube, they go into the live rock and start buiding another tube.

Any idea how to get rid of them?

I thought to find a fish that would eat them, but I have christmas tree worms that i dont want eaten.

DOes anyone else have these?
the tubes are about an inch high and like 2/3 cm across.
thanks for the help
Frank

I was just going to post a question about this today. In my hammer coral I have noticed that the heads of the coral have been slowly dying. I noticed this long stringy mucus coming from a tube. This sounds like the same critter in the article. I don't remember reading about it killing corals, the article did mention that most animals can clear the mucus off of themselves. Does anyone think that this tube/snail might be the culprit of my hammers demise?

There is def a type of snail/worm in there. Jim I dont think its the disease you're talking about. There is something moving in there.
