I usally put the coral or clam in a pail or bucket and then add water from the tank. Depending on the coral I do this over anywhere from 1 hr to 3 hr, for clams a little longer. Once done I usally put the coral first in my refug and then move it into the tank the next day or so.

As for fish I usally quartine them in a 5gal tank or for larger fish in a 22-50 gal tubberware pail. I usally leave the bag in the room so the temp in the bag can reach room temp and then I move the fish to one of the containers.

Alot also depends on the time that I get home as some times it's late and the coral maybe in the bag for quite some time, specially if it's been shipped, and I will probably put in right into the refug right away.

I keep my lighting schedule the same when acclimating something. It breaks into the groove. I'd rather have that one piece try to get on schedule than throw off the rest of the tank ;)

I only temp acclimate corals. Fish I throw into a plastic dish and just add a couple cups of tank water over 15 mins and into the tank they go. With inverts I take a little more time, especially with turbos.

i drip acclimate in the bag and let the water overflow into a larger container. i then remove the bag and most of the water and continue to drip.sometimes i do this several times depending on how stressed the animal looks.

I temp acllimate and put in some greenex for fish, Coral Aid for corals (basically iodine) and nothing for inverts - I use a cuop here, a cup there.

Once I get about 1/2 the water out, I put them into the tank. Corals, right in, inverts right in fish I lower the tupperware into the tank and let them swim out on thier own.

I usually take a little extra time with the fish (around 30 mins with a cup). Corals I just throw them in. Inverts I also throw in, except for shrimp and stars. Do you guys think I should acclimate my corals? From all the corals I have, I only lost one coral, my Hammer.

drip drip drip.

dump half the water in the bag.

Drip drip drip again

Dump and catch the animal in a cup, corals I pull out and let drip for a sec.

Then hardly any water from the bag goes directly in (except what's coating the animal)

B
Everything. even if it's a really fast drip.

For fish I just net than slam... For coral I net than dip in RO than slam... But what works for one person won't work for the next...Especially if your water quality is worse than where you got it from...Happy Reefing..
