I am seeing more and more bubble algae in my tank. It started with one and now I can see several.
What is the best way to control and or to eliminate? If you see a benfit to having it in the tank please voice your opinion.
Thanks for the information, I was just about to pop the biggest one, BTW forgost to mention that I added several emerald crabs and only one remains ( yeah the biggest one) and I dont see him getting close to the bubble algae
in my experience emerald crabs can help control the little bubble algae (valonia), but not the big ones or a massive outbreak. I would remove as much as you can with siphon and/or tweezers and a net, and then add emeralds to maintain the new ones that inevitably sprout up later.
I know I'm in the minority here but I actually don't mind having a little bubble algae in my tank. I think it looks better than any of the other nuisance algae and atleast I know where my additional nitrates are going. Plus they don't seem to spread very quickly so I wait until I get a nice bunch together and use those tooth floss holders to remove the whole bunch. What harm does a liitle bubble algae do to a tank anyway? Unlike hair algae or cyano I think it looks nice in a tank.
