To prevent the introduction of phosphates, silicates and other nuisance algae causing agents, I recommend buying distilled or R/O water. I used to get mine at K-Mart before getting a RO/DI unit. It was a pain to lug home, but I felt it was better than fighting off hair algae, diatoms and cyanobacteria.

Thanks Dean. Is there a K-mart in Qns or other store where I can buy distilled water?

call your local pet shop most good ones will sell you R.O. water for $1 a gallon

as far as distilled water you can sometimes get it at your local bodega or grocery store most sell it.

The office buildings that I take care of aquariums at use poland spring water. I have good results from it as well.

Distilled water shouldn't be hard to find. If you need water since you drive, just bring some buckets or containers or whatever and you could have as much water as you'd like til you get your RO/DI.

Thanks. I think it will be cheaper to buy them. With the OT gas price, I am unwilling to drive my car  If I cannt find any I will come to you for some :D
