sup guys im new here ...im here to learn as much as i can, i have a 36gal with live rock and live sand...2 damsels 1 yellow tang 2 clown fish and 1 raccoon butterfly. thats good for now but im tying for something out of this world type. but i need more shcooling on the hobbie.

For the future, the yellow tang and butterfly fish will need a minimum 70 gallon housing. The butterfly may also be damaging to a reef tank. I think its sort of safe to say that most members will agree with me that you should just upgrade the tank to a larger size and then start your reef. Once you get going you dont want to disturb what you got going by constantly upgrading your tank. The larger size will almost keep you tank parameters a little more stable in terms on temperature and ammonia, nitrite nitrate fluctuations. Just makes it easier in the big picture of things.

i dont know how to start with reefs or corals. and im not to sure about the lighting
Well let us know what kind of corals you want to keep and then we can help you more with you lighting question. You may also want to get rid of the canister filter and get yourself a sump with some live rock and marco algae. How much live rock do you have in your tank now? Post a pic of your tank to give me and the other members a better idea of what your working with that will also help us help you more.

i was told that after i got him . the pet shop i go seem they rather get rid of the fish then help you pick the right fish.so i took a step backwards.
