I was on 8th ave in the 50's in brooklyn and they were selling mantis shrimps for $29 a pound they had tanks full of them I didnt know they sold them by the pound!!! they also had what I think were stone fish and ablone!!! wow no need for the LFS anymore! you can stock your tank and fridg at the same time!!!

Mantis shrimps are yummy, only had them once but i really liked them. I don't think the ones sold as food can be kept though, I read an article a while back that said they had some type of fungus or disease that eventually kills them.
