as you can see from the picture's Brittneys house took a beating, it was flooded inside and everything is lost, furniture, refiger
ator floated about till water receeded. 2 trees went through the roof one came through the inside ceiling.
there was still a couple of inches of water inside, mold everywhere! the only thing that actually "saved" her house was the fact it's a brick structure but the house has to be completely guted roof removed and completely be rebuilt.
She was actually one of the lucky resisdents, some had nothing to go home to.
when we got there some parts of Slidell had power both Walmarts were open, Sams club was pumping gas. there were no long lines, no looting, no fights as reported. I guess that went on in New orleans.
if you hadnt seen the destruction you would never have guessed what these people had to endure, people were smiling, joking in walmart, I had a partial police uniform on I had a lot of people come up to me and thank me for comming down to help.
we distributed the stuff that you guys graciously donated, brittneys family was with out words and extremely grateful, we also gave to her nieghbors as well.
I really wish the media would show the positive upside of this, rather than make this a politically racially motivated confrontation. the media has dropped the ball as well as the elected officials that make decisions.
after talking with the people down there Louisianna also has to rebuild it's local Govt also, far too much corruption!
I really wished I had planned to stay down longer, I might be making another trip in the near future.
