Aged water

I've had mixed water sitting in my sump for a little over a week while I've been trying to hook it up and get it going. I'm nearly there, but now I wonder if the water is ok just sitting there; I haven't had anything moving it around; it's been just stagnant. Is a week enough to ruin it? Do I need to start over??

Also, I'll be putting my AquaC skimmer in the refug, not the main tank. What kind of power-head would you recommend? The one it came with is probably too powerful for a refug, right??

If this is fresh mixed saltwater you should be fine, if used tank water toss it. If it smells at all I wouldn't use it.

also aerating the water helps a lot.

When moving into the city a month or so ago I took 5g of water from my FOSW tank to 'seed' my new 16g nano-reef. Due to problems moving (didn't get my furniture for almost 3 weeks!) I was not able to start adding water to my new tank for a while. It was housed in a 5 gal water jug, with a tight plastic top- I shook the water every day or so and smelled it before adding it (no smell). Proceeded to dump it in my tank and everything was fine!

Most people do not recommend putting your skimmer in the refugium; tt is usually placed in a compartment before the refuge.

Anybody know about the power-head for the AquaC Remora skimmer in a small tank??
