Whats the best way to clean a tank to store it I want to beak down my frag tank there is some algae on it I wanted to mabe use it down the road is there a way to get it close to new look can I use bleach?
Bleach is tough on silicone. If it's green algae, I'd use either Algae Destroyer or Algae Fix. Apply directly to the algae areas, let it soak in for a little while and then wipe the algae away & rinse well (assuming the tank is empty).
Vinegar works ok, but takes more rubbing to get the algae off. But if it's coralline alage you're looking to remove, white vinegar works like magic.
I would never use bleach on any tank. If you are going to use any chemical use ammonia. It is a lot less harsh. But vinegar works the best on any form of coralline algae.
There is nothing wrong with using bleach in a tank, but you would need to proportion it properly and do not overuse. I'm sure that there is someone here that can chime in to the proper ratio. Worse case scenario there is always elbow grease and a razor as long as you are not using it on acrylic.
