whats up fellas.last thread for a while i promise.except for sale.still have some things to sell.anyway i built a canopy today and i need to know what i can use so the humidity doesnt get in to it.i was thinking thomsons water seal but i know some of u guys built your own so i need ur input

If you don't let the poly dry for at least a 2 weeks it won't be dry... This is if you use enough like 3 coats.. THen you won't ever have to worry about moisture... With 1 coat after a year the salt will have sanded it down... I use RID primer personally...

If your using it inside a hood you really dont need 3 coats. Sanding in between gives the poly a nice smooth finish. Home Depot and Lowes sell a spray paint can of poly. One coat would be fine. When I build bars I do 4 coats and sand in between to smooth out the finish and make it as durable as possible. But one coat is good enough for you.

I guess it depends on the application because the bars that I do 3coats on, some 4, dont last forever either. They still have to be redone nearly every two years. Either way duke, poly is the way to go whether you choose 1 coat or 22.
