ro/di problem?

but how can the waste be coming out of the same faucet where the clean water should be coming out from?

so i got a new membrane and am setting it up. question, if you look at picture 2 you will see the big fat membrane housing and the 2 hoses coming out. 1 is the waste and 1 is to the DI. but the holes look the same... how do i know which hole should go to waste and which should go to the DI?
