I am considering a HOB skimmer fro my 29g. It was supposed to be a FOWLR, but coudl'nt resist the coral. Anyway opinions needed and do need one or not . If I were to buy one, which of the HOB would you consider worth buying.

Thanks
Rich

I have had the seaclone which is garbage, the Prizm which is also garbage and the remora which was great. I switched to the tunze doc 9002 because I didn't want any HOB items anymore. The Remora is a great skimmer.

My Remora has skimmed a total of 1/4 of an inch in a little over a year.lol It is on a 20g tank mixed reef 1" sand bed, about 20 -30 lbs lr, 10g sump with about 15 lbs lr rubble, nano koralia, mag 5 return going through swid, with 2 ocellaris clowns & 1 pin stripe scarlet wrasse which has had no water changes since 12/10/08. And all corals are thriving except for the Acro(growing pretty good, but not colored up) including frags of corals that have perished in my main tank (155 BF).

Go figuer.

Well, a lot of people will say that the prizm sucked but it did a great job for me when i had my 37 gallon which is the same as a 29g but a few inches taller. Now i got the Deltec MCE 300 but its a bit pricy but it does a better job than the prizm. It all depends on how much you want to spend but i wasn't disappointed with the Prizm Skimmer.

Mmm confusing, some others say if I keep up with the water changes I really don't need one. The other thought here might be to add an overflow box to a sump or fuge since this isn't a RR tank. Is this all really necessary though for a small tank.

By the way it's a regular 29g not bio or nano cube.

remora skimmer, best bang for the buck, some people said their's didnt pull, ive had 3 and never had a problem you just have to make sure you occasionally clean the injector
