I seem to be getting a lot of the red slime in my 10 gal reef tank. It's the only one out of 3 that's getting it. When I set this tank up, I got live sand from an established tank, probably they had the bacteria to begin with.
I'm cleaning every other day, so it's not overwhelming the rocks and livestock, but going into the tank has to be disturbing to my zoos and such.
As for my water, I have been using distilled water from the beginning, including water changes, so there can't be that many contaminants introduced by that avenue.
I'm using a Penguin 125 filter, with bio-wheel. Should I remove the bio-wheel?
I have no skimmer on this tank, I don't know of one that will fit a 10 gal.
I do 2 gallon water changes every week, and my livestock seems to be fine except for when I disturb them to clean. My chem levels are good, near 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and 10-20 nitrates.
Is there anything (or things) that will eat this? I have hermits, snails, micro brittle stars(just a few as of yesterday). Does anyone have anything to spare? Any fish that think this is a delicacy? This is just getting annoying cleaning all the time!
