When people walk into my apartment one of the first things they see is my tank. I'm always curious how people will react who have not seen it before.

Some people are drawn to it right away and ask a million questions, others look at it and think I'm crazy

The people that amaze me the most are those that pay no attention to it.
You have to see it unless your blind.

I have to admit disregarding my tank immediately lowers my opinion of you. I look at that individual in a whole different way, and it's not positive.

Am I the only one who does this? :sgrin:

Ronen, I get a lot of people coming over to my place.

either work, or social, friends of friends etc. I've had people walk in and not even look at the tank or comment on it. I don't remember who they are, probably for a reason. you do that and likely your not coming back, plus I might not even work with them ;)

how can you miss this?

old shot when the tank was first set up, but you get the idea.

You know, what I really think it is, is that they're jealous. I guess a really awesome tank would seem to some people, that the tank owner is somewhat of a showoff, and they won't acknowledge it, especially if they have no hope of ever matching what you have.
That goes for your new car, new house, great garden, etc. I've seen it all around, and I admit, I've been guilty of that a few times, with my rich, snotty relatives. (but no tanks, just the gold metallic Jaguar my sister in law got for a christmas present). "wanna take a ride?" No, thanks. Gag me!

LMAO!!!!! I was one of those peoples....OMG look at that did you know it was there?! Of course he knew it was there its your tank!

People come in and just comment on the nemo most of them, not many of my outside of MR.com friends have an interest in fish and colored rocks as its called by them....one question i get is "Is it really alive??" and another "How can rock be living, does it grow?" But hey the tank is here for my enjoyment ;)

Jhale,

If someone didn't notice your tank in my apartment I would show them the door. That is ridiculous, it is the center of the whole apartment.

okay so it's not just me.

I'd say the majority of people are into the tank and ask a bunch of questions.

some non reef people do stare at everything, I had one friend who was kind enough to point out the cyno when I had the outbreak. and my gf as well.
it was because I got tired of hearing, "when are you going to get rid of the slimy red stuff" that I broke down and used chemi-clean, glad that I did.

the final test is if they ignore my cat. I'll understand if your allergic. but if you can't show my cat some respect and dis my tank, well see ya.
So far I've not met many people who fall into this category.

the majority of people first comment on the plants in my place, there's a bunch, then they ask what kind of tank it is fresh or salt, these are the people I know I'll be friends with.

jon, haha.. interesting topic.. I do agree that missing a tank in your or our house is something odd. How often do you see people house with a tank that is so colorful and bright!! :D..

 lucky I wasn't one of them that miss your tank.. lol

When I stepped into john's crib, I had to take a seat, thats how nice the tank is! But most of the time everyone's jaw drops when they see my tank, and then their jaw drops even more when I tell them "yea, I spent around 3g's on the tank so far"

My roommates actually come drag their friends out from in front of my tank. They see it, then I start explaining things, then the see the xenia and they're hipnotized.

I've had a couple of people go "nice tank" and walk away. I have to remember that not everyon is as interested (addicted?) as we reefers are.
