I am setting up a QT tank. What type of filter should I use?

I was thinking a 20 gallon tank, with a heater and bio wheel power filter. I'll put some live rock in there. Do I need anything else?

I use a bio wheel as well and it's working find so far. I wouldn't put any LR in there in case you need to treat or if you decide to use it as a hospital tank. LR from other tanks may also harbor unwanted parasites so I would stay away from them all together.

Tangs, do not use live rock. Because of the absorbing nature of live rock it could act like a sponge messing around with your treatment doses. Live rock is great at sucking up coper. Also no rock is needed. I do a biowheel just like fink and when the QT isnt running I take the biowheel and put it in my sump to keep the bio activity going. if anything put pieces of pvc for hiding spots to destress your qt fish. Tank heater biowheel filter and a basic light but you dont really need the light.

They do like to hide so buy a fake rock or cave .I've given up on QT's cause they're too small and may stress them out even more and don't match parameters with the main tank and they somehow get sick and die anyway. My 2 cents.
