Hey everybody,
I will be setting up my 90 in a couple of weeks and I need some advice on painting the back of my tank - what kind of paint, color preferences, any suggestions on a 'swirly' design and any other advice. The tank is glass.
Thanks in advance

I have used Rustoleum's Latex paint on all my tanks.
Apply a few layers with a smooth foam roller.

Easy to take off if you ever want.

black, Krylon Spray paint but when painting make sure that tank the side that you are going to be painting be faced up and let it sit overnight so it drys so you dont get drip marks. Hope this helps.

Good Q, my tank is reef ready but no closed loop plumbing. It sounds logical to drill after painting.
Thanks Marki and Devious - it looks like it is simpler than I thought, if only fixing the Mets was this easy!

Which color best hides any 'growth' on the back glass?

depending on what you gonna have growing on the glass. I am figuring you mean coraline right? then i would go with some kind of bluish color cause the purple coraline is really gonna show on a black background

everyone is overcomplicating this.
tape what you dont want painted and spray away.
Light multiple coats.
Its a really easy thing to do, and I am not that handy of a guy

I used Krylon Fusion Spray Paint, color was light blue

Just cover the edge with newspaper and it is good to go.
As Chemchef stated just do multiple light coating.

Remember to do it in a well ventilated area

Wow, thanks for all the interest.
Spray paint always works best with several light coats. Does Home Depot or Loews carry 'One Shot' - I will probably go with a color that matches the room but stays in the blue 'color family'. I have been waiting to set this tank up for ab 3 months (home renovations take 150% of the time and dollar estimate) the wait is killing me! but setup time is near, my tank stand is coming next week then the plumbing into the basement to a Custom King sump/fuge and alot of water - I will need frags, frags and more frags, fish selection advice and probably MR group therapy. Now my family is teasing me for being on 'that fish site' again, they better get used to it!

Yake the northern state west to post ave south. Cross over old country road and it will be like 1500 ft on your right hand side.

But reg. old krylon works fine.

any home depot

I've used spray and roll on paint, Spray is the worst, with spray paint Absolutely make sure you cover the Top of tank and spraying in doors is a big NO-NO.
Rustoleum paint with a roll is the best way to go, no mess can be done in or outdoors, a cupple coats i gave 3 and it will leave a nice thick beautiful color
