I know less than nothing about calcium reactors, but after a really quick read through the attached article, it seems that a properly calibrated PH probe is necessary to adjust the reactor.

For maximum performance the PINPOINT pH Monitor should be calibrated immediately. Proper calibration requires the use of 2 different fluids; one of which must be #7.00. Any combination of either (#7.00 and #4.00) or (#7.00 and #10.00) will give equally excellent results.
