I'm having some phosphate issues. Currently hovering between 1 and 2 on the chart. I'm thinking of getting some rowaphos and putting it in an external HOB power filter I have. Anybody else do something like this? Or would a phosban reactor be necessary?

Use a reactor, a Phosban reactor is fine and is pretty cheap when compared with everything else in this hobby. You can use Rowaphos in it, or any other GFO. I use Phosar from Warner Marine.

Of course you need to treat the underlying cause - overfeeding, insufficient clean-up crew, etc., but that being said once you address the causes use Blue Life Phosphate Control to bring your down your PO4 levels (short term) and a phosban reactor to keep them low (long term). HTH.

phosar is supposed to be designed to use in canister filters, HOB, etc. I use it in a reactor but it is supposed to work.
