I have a Coralife Pure-Flo II 100 GPD unit. I need to know how often I should change the membrane? I've been using it 3 times a week since May. Also, should I use the expensive Coralife model, or can I use a generic one? I've already changed all the other filters. If it makes a difference because of the water, I live in Manhattan. Thanks.

when your product water is over 1 ppm n its not cause by the other filters.

Get a tds meter and when it reads above 0 change the filters out. :splitspin Also dont forget to flush out your unit...it enhances the life of the membrane.

You need to look at the rating of the membrane. I think 100gpd is in the 95% range so 1ppm does not mean that your membrane is bad.
There a few factors here that you need to know which is the tds going into the membrane and the tds level exiting.
As an example if your tap water tds is 140 ppm, then 0-7 ppm of tds is within tolerance. Usually, you need to depend on your DI resin to remove the remainder. That is why it is good to research RO units also. A good example is that a Dow filmtec 75 gpd membrane has a better rejection rate, somewhere in the 98% range vs 95%.
