The GBTA has been looking healthy for the last two days staying in one location. Last night I pried it twice from the powerhead. Probably should have let it remove itself the second time after I shut off the powerhead .

Just wondering what I can do....I've tuned down the tunze to see if it helps....and it's moving around all over the place (I know this is normal) actually floating all over the place.....stopping and then floating again. I think the reason it is moving is because I changed the lighting photoperiod after acclimation. With the new photoperiod I am turning on the actinics as well as the halides.....6 hours mh 8 hours actinics.....I probably don't need this much as it is the only coral in the tank right now.

Attached is a pic (not the best).....hopefully it will settle down in one location and open up....

Additionally does anyone put in gutter guard or something similar over their powerhead intake?

Any advice sincerely appreciated.

Thanks

Give it some time. Does it look like it was damaged (torn) by the poewrhead? I don't have any tunzes but of all that I have seen none had anything on them like gutter guard or anything else for that matter.

Agreed with Chief, give it some time to settle in.

How old is the tank, the anemone doesn't look to be happy, but then again it met the powerhead twice. It looks a little bleached in the photos, you could try offering it a piece of silverside, tiny piece, and see if it will eat.

chief: some of the tips....were torn off. The base appears to be ok....

nanoreefer: Those pics were with the actinics.....I see the green in the bubble tip and the tank is brand spanking new....cycled of course

I'll try to post some better pics of it soon...

I wouldnt worry so much about the torn tips, at one point my RBTA was loosing tentacles everyday and mysteriously stopped when my 6lines passed away:scratch:

It could be that the tank is too new to make the anemone happy, if he continues to go downhill, maybe you can give him to a friend for a while and get him back when your tank settles in?

nanoreefer: thanks. It could be that the tank is too new to make it happy but it was doing great for 48 hours until I changed the lighting period. I will continue to monitor.

Here are some updated pics:
