total cover up of sump

is there a problem with a total cover up of sump.after seeing will c tank setup i was considering installing my sump and fuge in my basement,the only problem is i have my cat with its litter box in basement its kind of dusty and my boiler is right next to where the sump would have to go.so what i was thinking of doing is making a large box made of plexi glass to totally enclose the sump.of course i would make a hinge top with some sort of weather seal to be totally airtight. LMK

heat could become a problem, and you really dont want it air tight, water needs oxygen

yeah thats what i was thinking.just needed a second opinion.ill keep it simple and keep it inside cabinet

u could always get a filter, like one for the furnace to lay over the top of it

You could put the hinged lid on like you wanted, and drill a bunch of holes in the top for air transfer, and then put the filter over top. This way the filter will stop any debris or dust from getting in, and in the unlikely chance that the cat knocks the filter off, there is still a plexiglass cover over top to stop the cat from playing in the water.

If the tank is open then its not a problem. Just make sure you water ripples in the tank although I don't think that is even that necessary.
