I was offered a free tank by a home owner who's tenant moved out and left it there. It was on the second floor of a house. So when we started to take it off the stand we found out who the tenant left it there. It was leaking at a corner. Just to clarify this is not the tank that i have for sale, that one is in pristine shape. How hard is it to fix a leaking tank. The tank was 72*23*30. I didnt feel like getting a crew together to pull it cause i didnt think it was worth it. What say you?

Generally when a tank is leaking, the silicone has to be taken off, the tank disassembled and then rebuilt. While that isn't overly hard to do, it is still a lot of work and must be done correctly. That is a LOT of water to take a chance with.
IMO, I'd pass on it.

I agree Kathy. I did passed. Im sure the home owner is just going to get the construction crew thats downstairs working, to just take a metal bat to it and take it out in pieces.

even leaking it is worth something. take to the time to evaluate the leak.. it might be an easy repair... OR sell it on craigs list as a reptile tank for 50 bucks... OR to a fish guy who can repair... other people love to repair.. why bust it up when you can #1 have somone pay you a couple dollars for it.. #2 someone will show up to take it out for you.

just a thought...

i mean if you are going to just trash it.. i would even consider picking it up..

but it is worth something..

It didnt seem worth it cause to move it out we would have been a killer. I wound need to stand it up on its side to get it through a door way then will standing it up go down two steps turn again and then try to slide it down a staircase that only 27 inch wide. Along with removing doors and railings. The women need it out asap also. Not worth the $50 And the stand had a lot of water damage and the doors were falling off also.

if it's tempered glass tell them to be careful when smashing it apart, that glass will burst all over when it comes apart.
