My clam is in trouble...

I acclaimed it for an hour and drop it in the tank.. After the light is on today, I still see it closed up..

How long did it take for your clam to open up?? My light is on for 2 hours..

Is there anything I could do?

Mine has only opened a little bit and shuts close as soon as I get to close to look at it. I don't really know its color and pattern yet. It's definitely not blue, though. I took it out of the tank to spot-feed it. Perhaps you should try doing that and see if it responds to food. :question:

How much phyto should one use anyway? And how long does it usually take them to suck it all up?

mine is not opening a lot either. i can see the frills on the mantle, and that is about it

Could they all be going through pinched mantle??
Dmitry instead of taking the clam out to feed cut the top off a 2 liter soda bottle and cover the clam then shot the phtyo in the half a bottle.

Tom, theres really little you can do, if you havent already leave it on the sandbed and dont move it alot, if you can try to turkey baster some phyto around it but try not to bug it as itll keep traumatizing it.

FWIW mine has a pinched mantle too but its open

pinched mantle doesnt mean not opening, pinch mantle diease is a totally diffrent situation, these are farm raised clams they wont carry parasites because ORA does not tollarate that stuff, pinch mantle can be cured with freshwater baths scheduled in the morning, but instead of using a buffer, you use 1 cup of your tank's water to buffer it, then drop him in for 20 mins, if that isnt enough schedule another FW dip 2 days from then. FW dip are very stressful, some DAs on RC are not that smart, and they leave their clams in FW for 1 hr.

i have a very bad news and good news. RIP... My clams is dead ... The good news is that my snail, hermits, shrimp had a feast.. sigh... I didn't even see how it looked..too sad...

What's a pinched mantle? How can you tell?

I came home tonight to see that one of my stupid hermits or snails had knocked my Clam of its rock and I don't know how long it spent just lying on its side in the rock-work. I got it out and moved the rock it's back to the sand. It's not a big fall from there. I was looking at it with a flash-light and it keeps kind of twitching and pulling its mantle in and out. I guess it's still alive...
