My tank lights have been off for about an hour, and I was checking everything out with a flashlight. On all the SPS coral the polyp extension is crazy. Does it make sense to feed them at night. I'm thinking of things like cyclopeeze. it seems since the polyps are out the coral would get more to eat.

Andres, SPS can eat cyclo. I use to watch them capture and consume it in my tank but I stop feeding it because it would get on the walls of my skimmer and mess up the foam and also it does wonders for aptaisa :(

I have pics of the acros eating CE...I'll post them tomorrow

I have no aptasia. :)

I'm going to try it and see what happens.

if anything all the worms and hermits will get fed a nice meal instead of the crap they normaly eat.

Rich did you try a turkey baster? or is that too much of a pita for you?

also did you see any difference in the coral, is it worth it?

Jonathan,

I feed some of my corals at night as well. I usually mash up some Formula 2 flakes, add tank water and feed with a turkey baster.

I feed my corals 2-3 times a week I use the frozen cyclopeeze mix it with some tank water and I pour it in right near the tunze stream pump and it goes everywhere I've checked my filter sock and a very small percentage winds up there.
always at nite between 2-3 hours after the lights go out otherwise the fish go nuts and eat it all

I feed it to my fish as well.

Frank do you think it's helping the sps coral?

I've been feeding it to a small patch of acans, I know they like it. they all get some and close up. I don't know if it's the cyclop's but they have grown since I've fed them directly. a frog spawn and some hairy mushrooms are the only other "soft" corals in my tank that I feed directly as well. I let the flow take care of the others.

my sps are growing like mad even under the XM 15K bulbs that are supposed to have a low par. I have an open brain that loves the food and he is huge. I got him when he was a bout 3X3" he's now almost 8"x8" open!

I cant say for sure that the feeding is making them grow faster.
if it's any gauge I have a frag that broke off a bali corazl I got a few months ago it's doubled in size since late july.

I can say this I dont think it's hurting anything
